Reading Your Manufacturer's Maintenance Schedule

Your owner’s manual contains a maintenance schedule written specifically for your vehicle. Learning to read it puts you in control of your car’s upkeep, and it makes any visit to the shop faster and clearer.

Where to find it

The maintenance schedule is usually in the owner’s manual, often in its own section or a companion booklet. Many manufacturers also provide it online or through an app. If you cannot locate yours, the vehicle’s make and model will point you to the right resource.

What it tells you

A maintenance schedule lists services and when the manufacturer recommends them for your vehicle. It typically also specifies the oil grade and standard your engine requires. Because these recommendations are vehicle-specific, we avoid quoting a universal interval or a one-size-fits-all rule. Your schedule is the reference that matters.

Tip: some schedules list different guidance for “normal” and more demanding driving conditions. Read both and see which better matches how you actually drive.

How to use it before you book

Before your visit, note the oil specification your vehicle requires and any services your schedule shows as due. Bring that with you, or mention it in the notes when you request an appointment. It helps us prepare an accurate quote and the right service.

When to ask us

If any part of your schedule is unclear, ask. We are glad to help you understand what your vehicle calls for, without upselling services it does not need.
